ROYAL PLAYA DEL CARMEN BRIDES: were kids allowed for the day? ...and other questions

Recommended Posts

Anybody have any definite info on the NO outside vendor policy? No one at the resort is getting back to me. I am going to have to start reserving things (photographers, videographers, etc) in the next few months if I plan on having a wedding in Jan 2010. Would still like to stay at this resort because of its location, but may look outside the resort for the reception.

So if anyone knows anything inform us.

Can we start a boycott thread like Tammy did with the Karisma resorts and their no outside vendor policy which was eventually abolished.

I just received info from a WC yesterday and they said that my photographer would be allowed, but it would cost an extra $100. This is technically to cover a day pass. I am hiring Cecilia Dumas and I know that she has recently photographed weddings there, as soon as this past May. I don't think you have anything to worry about. smile72.gif

Cecilia photographed our wedding in May there. Well at the Gran Porto though. Back then they didn't charge any outside vendor fee or day pass. Argh, it makes me angry that they are putting in all these new fees! We had guests from other resorts and they did not have to buy a day pass if they just wanted to attend the ceremony and reception. I wonder if that rule has changed as well.

Thanks!
Patty, I believe, is the only other WC onsite (plus their respective assistants).

I know it feels like forever in between correspondence, but try to remain patient. They ARE running on Mexico time, and that, in our world, is a whole lot more laid back and slow! Plus, they ARE really busy, and getting busier...

I am positive that you'll hear something back soon. Contacting a new WC might just delay the process, as they won't be familiar with you (though I'm not sure HOW familiar your current WC would be either).

Just trying to be a voice of reason here...I know its frustrating, but, you WILL hear from someone. We're all sort of sitting in the same boat, awaiting our next delicious piece of correspondence!

Hi girls (and new guy!)! Sorry I've fallen off the face of the earth lately- I've been swamped at work and I go on an international trip on the 14th! AAAAHHHH!

Have any of you been able to negotiate a group room discount? I'm totally confused. I called the hotel's toll free number and there was a prompt for groups... just cause I'm nosy, I pushed it and got a woman named Denisse who said that group rates are available for people with over 8 rooms! Sounded strange, so I sent Denisse's info and email address to my TA to investigate. It took about a week and a half to get a response, but Paty emailed (not Denisse) my TA saying that there are no discounts available...

first off- what is different from working with the hotel discounts and the wedding ones?

second- Paty was working with me in the beginning and then seemed to pass me off to Micaela. Why is Paty getting involved again? Is she my coordinator or is Micaela?

I KNEW things were going too smooth!!! AAAHHHH!

We had 23 people and our group rate came out to be about $40.oo less, per person, per week. Not anything that was worth some of the hassle we had to go through. Next time I go on a group vacation, I would just tell everyone that they are on their own. I'm not jumping through a bunch of hoops for $40.00!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
