I don't know that I will get over it to be honest and we can't even afford the hotels in the the states which is a HUGE reason we chose to do Mexico in the first place....I'm proud of you girls for planning on going as is I have a feeling that this isn't going to be up to me if I want to do the same based on how the family is responding...
Steph- Yell, scream, curse, cry, whatever you need to do. I honestly don't know how you are even holding it together this much. And I get it, as much as everyone has good intentions behind their supportive comments and words you don't want things to change damn it! You want eveything to go as planned and changing the plans is not an option and even though it only matters if you two are there that is a load of horseshit because you and I both know that we want everyone there because that is what the plan was and that is what is important! I would feel the same way- and you have every right to feel the way you do.

Do you have any options of pushing back the date or will you incur fees or lose your money? I know its not ideal but if they would let you push it back you could still have your wedding with everyone? Maybe you have other complications then? Whatever you do try and stick with as much of that plan as you can that makes you happy. Maybe you can change to Jamaica or something, I think the price is about the same?

I am here if you need me, PM if you need anything! Big Hugs!

Air Canada Vacations announced the cancellation of all flights to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and Cozumel tonight.

We will NOT be having our wedding in that freakin gazebo, on that god damn beach, in Mexico.

If I weren't so tired from all the crying...I'd ... punch something!

I don't know what to do.

OMG shay are you serious, what the hell, is it for sure? Is it until a certain date? What are you doing? How many people were coming with you guys? I am crying for you because it sounds like the decision may have been taken out of your own hands.

I just got home and am running out but I got this press release just now and wanted to post for you guys to read, if someone wants to post on the other threads feel free or maybe someone else already has.

CANCUN, RIVIERA MAYA & COZUMEL FREE FROM SWINE FLU

QUINTANA ROO STATE SECRETARY OF TOURISM PUBLIC RELEASE

QUINTANA ROO KEEPS FREE FROM SWINE FLU

4/27/2009

Quintana Roo State Secretary of Tourism informs that the state is free from Swine Flu disease up to now, and that not a single case of the disease, or related cases have been reported at the main tourism destinations.

The detection and prevention plan implemented by Mexico´s Ministry of Health continues, by means of check points placed at airports, cruise and bus terminals, as well as permanent monitoring in the more than 77,000 hotel rooms operating in Quintana Roo.

The government agency also informs that tourism related activities develop normally in Cancun, Isla Mujeres, Riviera Maya, Cozumel and Grand Costa Maya. All destinations remain attentive to the Health Authority´s directions.

Quintana Roo State Government is supportive of other Mexican states where the Swine Flu outbreak has taken place, and will be respectful of precaution measures and recommendations implemented in foreign countries in regard to international travel.

For the State Government the highest priority now is the preservation of health among all the population, including citizens and visitors.

According to the media, and the Air Canada/Vacations websites, its official. They have cancelled all flights until June 1st...

We have a small group...only 10 of us...but everyone has their time booked off, everyone needs the break...and everyone will probably stay at home drinking Jose Cuervo, pretending to be somewhere we are banned from visiting.

I'm so devastated, I cannot even begin to explain how much so. The real clincher is it appears that we are only permitted to REBOOK our vacation for another time, before October 31, 2009, and...FI and I might be able to take more time for a trip...but...my dad, his mom...no, it just won't happen.

I'm hoping my TA can do something for us...hoping our travel insurance we purchased can recover most or all of the costs, cancelling our trip, and getting married in some fucking hotel ballroom (AHR)...

I...am just numb. Maybe I'll do more about this tomorrow....but with my luck...I'll just catch the flu on the metro between home and work, and...do more of nothing.

Shay, I am in the exact same boat...it sucks..so so so bad. Our rings are now engraved with a date that we will not be married on....that bugs me the most...I know it's silly, but it really bugs me

Can you girls taking canada flights fly into the states and then fly out to Mexico from here on flights that aren't cancelled? Please keep us posted.
Hey Stephanie- for me personally...we can't. My FI's side of the family didn't get cancellation insurance so they don't get a refund...they just get a credit for another trip and so I can't book them anywhere else.
I have to either push it back or find another destination that their carrier goes to and re organize my whole wedding around a destination that is available for my dates...assuming I can get a wedding date at one of the resorts they travel to...in 3 weeks.

Girls, I know I don't post much any more but I still check in from time to time to see how everyone is....

I'm so, so sorry to all the brides who are affected by the swine virus. My heart goes out to you... I can't imagine how you must be feeling.

Shay, I first started talking to you last summer after my wedding when you were just beginning your planning. I feel devastated for you. I'm sending all my love, thoughts and prayers and am hoping that somehow this will work out for everyone. It may not be the date you hoped and planned for, but I hope you all end up having the beautiful wedding you had planned for at the Royal. Thinking of you all....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
