Paradisus Riviera Brides - POST HERE!

We are legally getting married here first. Not that I was nervous it wouldn't be legal, just seemed like more of a hassle but now that I am researching more, it's a pain to get married in the states too!

Hi everyone. We are back from our honeymoon. It was great. So- if anyone has any questions I didn't answer before I left I am free to answer them. I saw the question about getting legally married there and we did get legally married in Mexico and it was no problem. We had to get blood tests while we were there, but it was the best blood test I have ever been given. The doctor was so professional and I didn't feel a thing (and I am a fainter). We just had to fill out a one or two page form and provide copies of our passports and tourist cards (you get them on the plane) and that was it. It really wasn't complicated at all. The marriage is recognized in the states and we plan on getting our marriage certificate translated into English, but other than that there isn't anything else to do. I was a little concerned because I went to the local county clerk to get our wedding certificate put on file and they said we had to get re-married. We don't- they just don't keep it on file in your state. So hang on to your marraige certificate and everything will be fine. The only difference is if you need another copy of the marriage certificate you have to go through Mexico rather than your home state. You do have to have certain wording at your wedding, but you are able to add things as well. We added our own vows, a sand ceremony, and a poem reading.

I also got the resort photographer's photos back. They came out pretty nice. I have them down in TX and I am in Pennsylvania right now visiting my parents, but they are on snapfish and if anyone wants to see them I can send you the link to the photos- just message me. He only photographed the ceremony and some of the photos are odd because my mother-in-law started telling him to photograph random things while we were taking pictures with our other photographer. But overally they are pretty nice.

Okay- hope everyone's planning is going well.

Today is my 3 month mark!! Where have you ladies been? Busy planning?? haha

I leave on Saturday to head down there to do my site visit so I will try to take lots of pictures and get as much info as I can.

I think we also changed our minds and will go with the Divine package. For 1k more, you get a videographer and a few other things where the videographer alone would cost $600.

I'm so excited!!

Angie, remember you telling me about letting them know in advance that we were making a site visit? Well I emailed them twice in the past week and no response. We're afraid if we wait any longer that we'll get more expensive plane tickets. Any advice? Possibly call? Thanks :)

avong..they responded via facebook and gave me a different email to contact so we've been talking via email. They didn't offer any special rates and whatnot, so I just booked through expedia. We're planning a visit there and to dreams and RIU in 3weeks. I just want to be 100% sure for our 2012 wedding..crazy right lol. No questions but thanks for your help :)

Glad to hear you got it worked out for your site visit. We walked past Dreams on the beach and it looks really nice too. Looks more modern looking but I liked the feel of NOW since it was for me more Mexican feeling and open aired concept which i think is nice at the beach.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
