Hi Brooke,

WFor live music, would you consider a steel drum? That may be less, and fun. We had the mariachi band during the cocktail hour. Let Perla know what you could afford for live music and see what she comes back with- it can't hurt, and she may have some flexibility with rates/ideas. We saw a wedding with an ipod when we were there, and it looked/sounded great as well, so you can't go wrong :).

Our reception was in the same place. We didn't do the chill out chic package, but we did have a buffet. It worked out really nicely. We did the Wish package and then customized it to have what we wanted. I found this was less expensive for us, but we weren't interested in the loungy beach seating. That looks really cool though. If you go on trip advisor and search Paradisus there is a bride on there who wrote a review and did the chill out chic package. She has pictures on there and a video I found a while back. It may take some searching since I found it while I was planning my wedding and I'm sure many reviews have been posted since then. Actually, I think her video was on youtube.

Is anyone hiring an outside makeup artist? Or using the one at the resort?

Ahh, I am stumped as to what to do about this... sad.gif
I did my own makeup. I went to someone at home for them to teach me how to apply it for the wedding.

Instead of doing live music (which would be our first choice) or a DJ, we are considering going the iPod route. Though I did receive a quote from Luis at Swank for $1466. But after reading some of the earlier posts, does this mean even if I don't use them I will be billed for 15% of the original quote? Also, is $1466 for 4 hours reasonable?

We would love to do live music, but $1200 for 45 minutes is unfortunately not within our budget. Is anyone doing live music and able to find a better deal?

If we do go with the iPod, can anyone tell me what arrangements we will need to make? We'll need a sound system of course. We also would like to do a projection screen so we can air a photo slideshow during the cocktail hour and buffet and then play our favorites music DVDs for the dance party - sorta like a concert experience. I have asked about this from Perla, but have not heard back. Do we use Swank for the equipment or does the resort take care of that? Any advice you can give is very much appreciated!!!

Happy to have found and be a part of this forum!

Thanks!
Brooke

Hi Brooke,
Ajua weddings is who I am using for my music and their prices are way better then the Paradisus even w/ the 300 outside vendor fee.

Just a thought :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
