My DIY Real Touch/Silk Flower Bouquets, Corsages, and Boutineers

Recommended Posts

I ordered all my flowers from afloral.com and was very pleased with the quality. You can tell they are fake, but not really unless you are right up next to them. I have never done anything with flowers or bouquets before, so honestly I am highly pleased with how these came out! For the price (probably cost me $100 all said and done) you can't beat it! The flowers through my resort were ridiculously high priced, so this was an alternative I decided to try out and I'm really glad I did.

I made:

3 bouquets

2 corsages

7 boutineers

700

The purple one in the center is mine and I am going to add a picture of 2 of my brothers that passed away in the charm that is hanging down.

Like I said, I am very pleased with these and would definitely suggest afloral.com to any bride that is unsure. It's a huge money saver. :)

Happy Planning, ladies!

These look awesome! I may have to check this website since I am thinking about doing a significant amount of floral items.

It's crazy how much resorts and WC want to charge for flowers...that I can't even take with me! At least with fake flowers, they are cheap, pre-made (so less stress about someone else creating something I don't like) and I can keep them indefinitely! elefant.gif

Hi Jenny,

I wrapped my bouquet in tissue paper, and had it in my carry on bag (roller bag) with some other fragile stuff. The bouts & corsages we had were also wrapped in tissue in the same bag. They traveled really well!! I put them in our checked bag on the way back, and they were still not crushed at all. They are pretty resilient! You can see them in the photo below.

Thanks for sharing a lovely picture from your wedding day! :)

Where did your purchase your flowers from? Afloral?

How much were they,if you don't mind my asking?

Definitely! Mine weren't pre-made, though- just to clarify that. I bought the stems and then made the bouquets and everything. :)

Jenny- I plan to buy a smallish plastic container and put them in there and then put that in my luggage so they won't get crushed. I wil be carrying on my dress, of course, and we have an almost 2 year old little boy so we are trying to limit our carry on luggage. It's rough to travel with a toddler! Lol

By premade...I meant made ahead of time! Sorry about that! As in you create them before your trip through a labor of love, then transport them to your destination. love.gif In my opinion it's one less thing to have to worry about....I think I might be a little disappointed if the vision for my wedding bouquet was lost in translation! angry.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
