Hey Sarah,

I already have a question for you or other AyJ brides. Are you using a transportation company to pick up and drop off your guests on your wedding day? If so, could you please give me the name and contact info. of the company you chose.

All of our 65 guests are staying in Playa, and we are providing transportation for them to and from AyJ via private bus. I have received two quotes so far, and was looking for a third company to contact.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks much.hug2.gif

hi,

i am so excited to share all the exciting details of our weddings!

for the transportation, jackie had mentioned that : info@tulumresorts.com could take care of it. Have you met her? it looks like tulumresorts.com is part of Ana y jose and they provide a lot of different services. like hotels...

i haven't even thought of contacting anybody yet about this subject i was just going to follow her contact. all i need is a bus to go along the tulum beach, shouldnt be too hard....playa is definitely a different story.

i have a question, i went there to visit all the hotels on the beach and the beach club, and i was wondering if you had any suggestion for hotels with AC? other than AyJ. thanks

My wedding is July the 11th!

Hi Kristen ~

No, I haven't heard anything about an ATM @ AyJ, but I'm sure Jackie could tell ya what the status is. BTW, when are you getting married?

Hi Steph ~

Thanks for the info. on the transportation company. I did get a quote from them and it's almost double the cost of the other vendor I found. It seems as though whenever I get a quote from a vendor recommended by Jackie, it always comes in much higher. I'm not sure if it's because her vendors are located in Cancun and it costs more time & money for them to travel to Tulum. Luckily, I have been finding all of my vendors through this website and contacting them on my own for pricing. It seems to be working out very well so far.

As far as Tulum hotels with A/C....I stayed in Tulum twice last year. Once at Xamach Dos in May when I got engaged and the other time at Cabanas La Luna in July. Neither of those locations had A/C. On my visit in May, I definately didn't need A/C. Most nights I wore a long sleeve t-shirt because it was so windy. In July, the room did get stuffy and we were forced to sleep with the cabana door wide open to get some breeze.

Try checking out Tulum, Mexico forum. It's free to join to ask questions or you can just lurk.

Hope this helps.

This is great! I haven't signed on for sure yet, but I've been talking to Jackie about a November or December 2009 wedding. My biggest question right now is where are your guests staying? Tulum or somewhere else on Riveria Maya? Can you also list hotels and transportation plans to get from lodging to the wedding? (Although I see we've already started talking about that one.)

This is awesome to talk to othe Ana y Josers.

My people are staying in Playa and I called Paradise Tours and Transports. He seemed really nice and gave a much more reasonable quote than the people Jackie suggested.

I also noticed that almost everything she suggests is more expensive than I can find on my own. I thought that is what we were paying her for so I didn't have to do it myself. Then she also said there is a $200 charge for outside vendors (but that's ok because most of the time it is still cheaper than what she quotes). Has anyone else dealt with this issue?

No one told me about the $200 charge for outside vendors! That isn't in my contract. Has anyone else heard of this and, if so, is it in your contract? I booked musicians from outside because it was cheaper!

Also, has anyone heard whether they are now open for dinner at the Beach Club? They were supposed to open the palapya for dinner but last time I talked to Jackie it hadn't happened yet. I hope it doesn't open anytime soon because then our wedding dinners will be more private. If it does open, where is everyone planning to have the reception? Is anyone paying the exorbitant fee for the "private event"? Before they were opening for dinner everyone who got married there had a private event after they closed at dark.

My contract under third party service providers says "There is a fee you must pay if you want to bring your own vendors on to our property." I had to ask a few times before she gave me an actual number. I feel like sometimes she avoids answering questions directly. But then she finally said $200. At first, it didn't bother me because I thought she has all the vendors I need so it won't be a problem. But then, like you, when I got to musicians and some other little things her prices are outrageous. I was wondering if anyone else has asked about the vendor fees or gotten any other answer.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
